Hurricane Ike

Well, here are some pictures from Hurricane Ike.

I can not get them to move around for me, sorry they are out of order.

This is a flooded road that this truck was trying to go through early on Sunday morning.

Here is Tyler cutting wood to board up the windows trying to get ready for Hurricane Ike.

We were on our way back to the house after the brunt of the hurricane and this was what we found all along the way heading back to our house. We had to dodge power lines to get back to the house.

Hurricane Hanna

On September 1, 2008 we were hit with our first Hurricane. it was a category 1 and for me it was scary because I had never been through a hurricane before. The night of the 1st the kids were asleep and i was just getting some of our important papers put into the briefcase for us to grab when needed. the power went out and the house began to shake. That was very scary!! Tim came into the bedroom and told me to get the boys. He had Alexis and so I went into the boys room and woke them up and said we needed to get out of the house. So we ran out to the concrete Sunday school room and spent the night there. It was a long night.
Here I am trying to cook on our one burner propane stove. WE did this for 26 days.

Here i am on the beach during Hurricane Hanna. It was very windy.

A beach shot

Between the two hurricanes we had a couple of days to prepare. We were still without power so we had to do laundry on the washboard. the kids thought this was fun for awhile, but after doing about seven loads of laundry this way I was very, very tired.

Since we had no power, but we could dip water out of the cistern. Tim rigged up this shower for us. We would heat water on the propane stove and put it in the bucket with some cold water. It had a spicket on it. At least we were able to stay clean.

We have internet

it has finally been turned on, but it still does not work well. the internet stays on for about 20 minutes or so before turning off again. So I will try to post a little bit at a time.

We hope you have a Hapy Thanksgiving!!!!

howdy

We are still without internet or phone at the house. So I am still unable to post pictures of everything. So much has happened over the past couple of months that it will take a long post to tell it all. I don't have much time at the internet cafe so please pray that they get out internet back on at the house soon. The people here keep promising, but as of yet, it has not happened.

We are all doing well though.

thanks for keeping in touch with us.

We are alright

Hello! Just wanted to let everyone know that we are alright. Finally got our power back on Friday afternoon after being without for 26 days. We are at the airport right now waiting on a plane to come in and bring us some things. Once we get the internet back up at our house then I will post pictures of the storm. The islands got hit hard and it will take awhile for some of them to recover, but thank the Lord we came through with only minor damage to our house.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers.

Will post more when the internet comes on at the house.

It's a Hurricane!!!

We are now dealing with Hurricane Hanna. The wind has really picked up and rain is still coming down. We still have power so I'm fixing supper to make sure it gets cooked in case the power does go out. I have no batteries charged at the moment for the camera. The kids used up all the rechargeable batteries. We are charging some of them now and hope to get some pictures of the storm.

Please continue to pray for us and the others here also.

Tropical Storm Hanna

My last post said Let it rain, Let it Rain. Well, we are getting the rain right now. Tropical Storm Hanna is upon us. We are getting lots of rain and wind. We have limbs down in our front yard from the coconut trees. So far the power has not gone out, which surprises us. usually the power goes out with very little wind.

Our cistern is overflowing. Tim has filled up our three 50 gallon barrels. Plus we have filled up some more pans, etc with water. And the cistern is still overflowing. Praise the Lord for the rain!!

We are doing fine, but please pray for us and the others in the path of this storm.
