A New Steeple

The steeple on the church got destroyed during Hurricane Ike. It was blown completely off of the church. Tim has been working on building a new one whenever he had the time. Today it was time to put it back up on the roof. I don't have any pictures of us getting it up. Tyler and I had to hold ropes while Tim was on the roof pulling the steeple up. It was a hard process to get done. Thank the Lord no one was seriously hurt while doing this. Tim got a cut on his finger when the rope slipped from Tyler and my hand. It was not pretty, but thank the Lord it is all up on the roof.

Here is a picture of the church without the steeple.

We took the steeple up from the back of the church and then Tim and Tyler moved the steeple across the roof to the front of the church. Here is the steeple topping the top of the roof.

It is almost there.

Now to get it set in the right spot.

Then we had to lift this other part up on the roof. This part has the cross on it. It was even heavier then the first part.

Now he has to figure out how to get this lifted up on top of the other part. I could not help him with this. It was to heavy for me to lift. Later in the day a Haitian friend of ours came and helped him put it up on top.

Putting the paint on.

Alexis was enjoying being up on the roof. Here she is trying to hide in the steeple.

They got the top part of the steeple on and then had to put a tarp up around it because it started to rain and the paint was starting to run down onto the church. Tomorrow he plans to take the tarp off and finish up the painting on it. It will look nice to have the steeple back up.

Object lesson

This morning in church Tim did an object lesson (sermon) geared towards the kids (and adults). The kids loved it. It was about sin. He had a sign on his back that said sin. So he was carrying around sin. He talked about telling a lie (example- stealing a bike). When parents ask about it, you say something like - I found it or someone gave it to me. Thus the black on your face. You are covering up the sin. then when the person that owns the bike finds you with it, you tell another lie, thus more black of sin on you.

Here he is trying to cover up the sin. No matter what you do, the sin is still there.

The only way to get rid of sin is to ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and wash you clean. (I don't have a picture of him getting clean and rid of his sin). the kids really enjoyed this ( and I think the adults did too). Please pray with us that this will plant a seed in their hearts and then in turn they will ask for forgiveness of their sins.

On my own

Today i am on my own. This morning we took Tim to the airport. He is in Grand Turk. He has to take care of some paperwork for the mission. I'm not sure how long he will be gone. He may be back tomorrow or the next day or the next. Just not sure how long it will take. So today it has been just me and the kids. We did school and tried to do up a couple of loads of laundry, but it has been raining off and on all day. My towels are still not dry out on the line. They will stay there over night and hopefully get dry tomorrow.

Tanner and Alexis like to play in the sand. here they are in front of the house building up a pile of sand.

Here is the view from my front porch. I get to see this every morning when I wake up. Isn't it beautiful , even with the stormy weather? This land across the road use to be full of trees and shrubbery. The church had this cleared off to make a parking lot. it helps a lot of the wind come off of the ocean and into our house now.

Another prayer request

One of my best friends just told me that her father-in-law has pancreatic cancer. please pray for him. He is not saved and that is the main concern right now for her and her family. They want to see him saved most of all and then for God to heal him if it is His will.

thanks.

Scrapbook page

i don't normally post pages from my scrapbooks because I am not that good at them, but I thought this one turned out fairly nice. It is one of the pages from when we led a TLC team to the Amazon in 2006. So as you can see I am very behind in my pictures. This one goes in my vacation (trips) album. I enjoy scrapbooking, it is a good stress release for me. I don't have very much time to work on it, but Saturday I took a few hours to myself and work on a few pages. So to the fellow bloggers that enjoy scrapbooking you will like this post. The pictures are a little hard to see because I couldn't get a real good upclose picture of it. Also the picture on the bottom of the first page looks funny because of the lighting.

Prayer Request

To all of our family and friends. We have an urgent prayer need that we need God's help and leadership in. Please pray with us so that we will totally know God's will in this.

Thanks a lot!

the Hole

Today we visited the hole. This is a giant sinkhole that use to be an underground cavern. The ceiling of this collapsed creating a crater. It measures forty feet across and eighty feet down. it was neat to see, but had to be very careful with the little ones to make sure they did not fall in.

Here is what we walk up to. No rails or anything. Just a huge drop.

Looking over the edge tothe water below.

Trevor and Alexis beside the hole.

More house pictures

Here are some more pictures of the house. I thank my mother in law for sending my blog to my parents who do not have a computer. This will help my parents see a bit of our house here.

Here is one of the walls in the living room by the love seat.

Here are a few of the decorations on some shelves.

We repainted the kitchen right before Thanksgiving and it turned out wonderful. It use to be a yellowish white color with a rose trim and cabinets. WE painted the upper walls a light white and the bottom a dark red. As I said it turned out real nice. I love my kitchen now!

Excuse the messy book shelf. It seems as though everything gets piled on here.

Another wall in the kitchen. There use to be a window here, but when we added on the bedroom for the older boys we had to close this is. Tim put shelves in and made a nice place for a few knicknacks.

Another kitchen wall.

Updating the house

We have been working on painting different rooms in the house. The house here has not been painted in probably 15 years or longer. So as you can imagine things were looking pretty rough around here. We have painted the living room and a kind lady in the church gave us a gift certificate for a designing place here. With that we bought new curtains and a floor lamp for the living room. They look very nice.

Our new curtains.

The floor lamp.

We have also painted the bathroom. This use to be a type of yellow color. It is now a pretty blue. My things match this blue color better.

WE have also painted the kitchen and I will try to post pictures of those later after I take them. We still have a few rooms that need attention and as we get those finished I will post pictures of them.
