The steeple on the church got destroyed during Hurricane Ike. It was blown completely off of the church. Tim has been working on building a new one whenever he had the time. Today it was time to put it back up on the roof. I don't have any pictures of us getting it up. Tyler and I had to hold ropes while Tim was on the roof pulling the steeple up. It was a hard process to get done. Thank the Lord no one was seriously hurt while doing this. Tim got a cut on his finger when the rope slipped from Tyler and my hand. It was not pretty, but thank the Lord it is all up on the roof.
Here is a picture of the church without the steeple.

We took the steeple up from the back of the church and then Tim and Tyler moved the steeple across the roof to the front of the church. Here is the steeple topping the top of the roof.
It is almost there.

Now to get it set in the right spot.

Then we had to lift this other part up on the roof. This part has the cross on it. It was even heavier then the first part.

Now he has to figure out how to get this lifted up on top of the other part. I could not help him with this. It was to heavy for me to lift. Later in the day a Haitian friend of ours came and helped him put it up on top.

Putting the paint on.

Alexis was enjoying being up on the roof. Here she is trying to hide in the steeple.

They got the top part of the steeple on and then had to put a tarp up around it because it started to rain and the paint was starting to run down onto the church. Tomorrow he plans to take the tarp off and finish up the painting on it. It will look nice to have the steeple back up.
