A Clean up

Yesterday and today we were cleaning up the back yard. This is something that some in the church has wanted to done for awhile. Everything would get piled up on the edge of the woods. So the kids, Tim and I and also Peguy helped by cleaning and picking up all of the debris. Everyone worked very hard to get this done. And it looks very nice. I forgot to take a picture of how it looks now, maybe I'll try to do that another day.

Here is Tyler cleaning up.

Trevor tearing some boards apart to be thrown away.

Tim and Tyler carrying a large log to the dumpster. Tyler is a big help to Tim now that he is older. I tried to carry one end, but just couldn't do it.

Here is part of the pile. Some of it had already been cleared.

Alexis raking up debris.

Tanner is up on the dumpster.

The worse part of all this was the bugs and roaches that would crawl out and get on you. The kids did much more of the work then I did because I was busy doing other things in the house, etc, but I did have a roach get up my skirt and it was not fun. I was laughing at the boys earlier by the way they acted when they had them crawl up their pants, but I wasn't laughing when it happened to me!! Yuck!!!

Happy Birthday Tim!!

Tim celebrated his birthday today. He likes food and has been wanting some strawberry toaster strudels. These are hard to find here and he only gets them on his birthday down here. So this morning I gave him his strudels. He even shared some with me. Yum!!

Here Alexis gave him a twix candy bar from all the kids.

And then for dessert. Cherry Delight.

I love you Tim!! HOpe you had a good day.

Kids at play

We had to get some things out of the attic today and the kids decided to play up there. I am so thankful that the kids can entertain themselves and play for long periods of time. The three younger one were up there for the most part of the day. So I sent Tyler up to take some pictures of what they were doing. These are the pictures that he came back down with. My kids act silly and it is hard to get a decent picture of them, but at least they had fun.

Some pics of the kids

Trevor was helping me beat conch so that we could make some cracked conch. This is a very good food, but a lot of work to get the conch tender. Tim made a block and board so that we could beat the conch outside and make less mess in the house.

Tyler taking his turn at beating the conch.

Alexis was cleaning a fish all by herself.

Trevor and Tanner took this picture of Alexis after they put flowers in her hair.

Tim gave Tanner a haircut. He has always wanted a mohawk, but I wouldn't ever do it. So Tim cut his hair and I took a picture before Tim fixed his hair and made it look better again.

Back view of his hair. Ugh!!! Glad they shaved it the rest of the way off.

Not much going on.

I haven't posted a blog in a week. There just hasn't been much going on here that would be of much interest. I have had a bit of a rough week though, physically and emotionally. I haven't had much strength to make it through the days. The kids and Tim are battling a bit of a head cold I guess. They have had the stuffy heads, sore throat, etc. I haven't had that, but I just don't have much energy. It has been very cold and windy here (at least cold for us). So I think that is affecting us.

Emotionally I've been battling. My best friends uncle (which is a dear friend of mine) had open heart surgery and was doing well, but then took a turn for the worse. So that has been weighing on me all this week. I've been praying and trying to figure out whether I should go to the States to see him or not. Would appreciate your prayers for him. As of today I was told he is off of the breathing tube, which is an improvement from yesterday.

There are some other things in our life that we would appreciate your prayers. There are just so many concerns and cares in this world to deal with and we need to know God's direction.

Thanks so much.

More pictures of the bridge

Here are some more pictures of the bridge going from North to Middle Caicos.

The younger kids wanted to run on it for awhile so we let them out of the car and they ran ahead of us. Here they are resting on the side before getting back into the car.

Pavement beside of the road.

Pavement and rocks piled along side of the road.

Concrete all busted up.

More damage from Hurricane Ike. It will be awhile before they get all of this fixed.

Sections of the pavement is washed away and is beside the road.
