More pictures

I am having an awful time getting pictures put onto the blog tonight, but these did go on, not in the order I want. Oh well, here they are anyways.

After the hurricanes, the mission sent down this two burner propane stove for us. This was a big blessing to me.

During out power outage we used these two coolers as our refrigerator. For awhile it was very hard to find ice, but as people started getting their power back on we were able to find ice. We would be our groceries for just one or two days and then go back to the stores to buy more groceries. This was hard to do ,but we made it through, thank the Lord.

The mission also sent us a generator. This was a real blessing to us. We would use this to plug in the electric skillet and fry chicken, boy!! That chicken tasted good.

Then after 26 days without power this one a welcomed site to see. The electric company was finally working on our power line pole, shortly after this picture was taken our power came back on. We were so excited. The kids went around the house turning on the lights to make sure they still worked. We were so thankful, it is amazing just how much you take things for granted.

Broken window

We had two guys come from FL to work on our house after Hurricane Ike to fix up our house. Jeremy Howard and Jim Budensiek were very helpful on fixing the window the was broke and they also replaced the carpet in the kids bedroom.

Some more pictures

Power pictures from the power lines being down. We had to drive over lines, dodge vehicles and poles. it was a long process for them to get it all fixed.

The steeple blew off of the church and hit the bedroom window. Here is the steeple all busted up where the wind blew it in between the house and the church.

Hurricane Ike

Well, here are some pictures from Hurricane Ike.

I can not get them to move around for me, sorry they are out of order.

This is a flooded road that this truck was trying to go through early on Sunday morning.

Here is Tyler cutting wood to board up the windows trying to get ready for Hurricane Ike.

We were on our way back to the house after the brunt of the hurricane and this was what we found all along the way heading back to our house. We had to dodge power lines to get back to the house.

Hurricane Hanna

On September 1, 2008 we were hit with our first Hurricane. it was a category 1 and for me it was scary because I had never been through a hurricane before. The night of the 1st the kids were asleep and i was just getting some of our important papers put into the briefcase for us to grab when needed. the power went out and the house began to shake. That was very scary!! Tim came into the bedroom and told me to get the boys. He had Alexis and so I went into the boys room and woke them up and said we needed to get out of the house. So we ran out to the concrete Sunday school room and spent the night there. It was a long night.
Here I am trying to cook on our one burner propane stove. WE did this for 26 days.

Here i am on the beach during Hurricane Hanna. It was very windy.

A beach shot

Between the two hurricanes we had a couple of days to prepare. We were still without power so we had to do laundry on the washboard. the kids thought this was fun for awhile, but after doing about seven loads of laundry this way I was very, very tired.

Since we had no power, but we could dip water out of the cistern. Tim rigged up this shower for us. We would heat water on the propane stove and put it in the bucket with some cold water. It had a spicket on it. At least we were able to stay clean.

We have internet

it has finally been turned on, but it still does not work well. the internet stays on for about 20 minutes or so before turning off again. So I will try to post a little bit at a time.

We hope you have a Hapy Thanksgiving!!!!

howdy

We are still without internet or phone at the house. So I am still unable to post pictures of everything. So much has happened over the past couple of months that it will take a long post to tell it all. I don't have much time at the internet cafe so please pray that they get out internet back on at the house soon. The people here keep promising, but as of yet, it has not happened.

We are all doing well though.

thanks for keeping in touch with us.
