A Trip to North Caicos

A dear friend of ours paid for us to go to North Caicos for campmeeting. We are so thankful to her for this. We really needed this little break and refreshment. The services we great! We felt God's presence, enjoyed the singing, etc. It rained off and on for most of the time we were there, but need the rain, so we are thankful for the rain.

Blogger put the pictures in how it wanted so I'm sorry for the way the pictures are out of order. We were able to go across the "bridge" to Middle Caicos one day to look around over there. This was the first time that Trevor, Tanner, Alexis and I have seen that island. It is very nice over there. Not many people and very quiet.


Here is as far as we could drive on Middle Caicos. This is looking out towards the south I guess.


At the very end of Middle where the road ended and the water began. Someone has built this little shelter with a swing. The kids loved it. They had so much fun swinging on this.

The singers this year at camp here are The Lopers from Hobe Sound. We got to know them a little while staying on North. My kids loved them. They had loads of fun with them.

Bro. Stetler was the evangelist. We enjoyed his sermons, they touched our hearts. Everyone got to hear many stories from him around the table at meal time. Tyler really enjoyed this.

Our "Boss" Bro. Frank Vaughn. We always enjoy when he comes down to visit.

Hurricane Ike still shows his damage. This is part of the bridge that you go across from North to Middle. They made this bridge by dumping rocks into the ocean and then putting up some concrete barriers, blacktop, etc. When the hurricane came through it tore up the road. It just picked up the blacktop and put it beside the road. It is a sight to see.

North and Middle have a lot of trees.

This is a well that people use to get their water out of. Some Haitians may still use it today.

This is the ferry that we rode on from Provo to North Caicos.

Our friend had a car for us to borrow while we were there. The only thing was that the drivers seat is on the right side of the car. Wow!! That was confusing. I've not driven like that before. WE had a lot of laughs. Everything was backwards. I would try to turn on my turn signal and end up turning on the windshield wipers. My kids would laugh and laugh. Good thing the pedals were the same though. That would have been awful if they were switched up also!!!

I've figured it out and we are driving down the road.

Our Day Today

This afternoon the kids were across the road working on their big hole in the sand. So they wanted me to see it and take some pictures of them. The hole is huge. They have a lot of fun playing in the sand.

On Saturday night a ship went aground on the reef. Sunday we went across the beach to see it, but I couldn't get the camera to focus that far away. So tonight we drove down to Northwest Point where it was stuck. We were much closer and so we were able to get a few pictures of it.

When I first walked on the beach tonight I felt something funny on the bottom of my feet. I didn't know what it was. Well, to find out, it was oil and tar that washed ashore from the ship. So here is the bottom of my foot. I would walk and the sand and rocks would stick into the tar and make the bottom of my feet hurt. I guess in a way I feel like I had been tared and feathered, except it was sand instead of feathers. Ha! By the time we walked all the way to the end (which is quite a long walk) and back most of the stuff worked its way off of my feet, but I still had to scrub to get it all off at home.

Valentine's Day

Today we celebrate Valentine's Day. Tim gave me a teddy bear. I have been getting a bear ever since we dated at GBS. We celebrated our first Valentine's Day at the banquet at GBS. That was a day I'll remember. I loved Tim back them and still love him today. He is my life. He is a wonderful husband and father, but above all is a christian and has been leading our home for years now. I'm thankful to God for allowing Tim to come into my life and for Tim's persistence in trying to get me to date him. I love you Tim. Thank you for loving me and for my "bee" bear this year. I love it!!




I found some cherries at IGA and got them for Tim. He loves cherries. I know he enjoyed them because they are already gone!!



And for the kids I made them some cookies in the shape of hearts. They love cookies. I made them the other day and hid them in the freezer until this morning. They knew they were in there, but I wouldn't let them have any until today. I think it was worth the wait for them.

An answer to prayer

A few weeks ago we asked for prayer. That prayer was answered today. We have been concerned and praying about our home in NC. Our renter moved out and we needed a new one to move it. God answered that today and we now have new renters. We thank God above all for answering this huge concern of ours. He is faithful to us and we are so gracious for all He does in our lives.

We also want to thank everyone in the States that helped get these renters in for us. Tim's parents, sister and brother-in-law and his nephew. We so appreciate all of your running and interviewing, etc that you did for us. May God bless each of you.

What is wrong?

I was in the kitchen doing up my lunch dishes when all of a sudden some horrible screaming and crying came from the back yard. What was wrong? Did one of the dogs attack my children? Did they get into a wasp nest? What could be wrong? So I took off, only making it part way, the back door opens and Tanner and Alexis come running in screaming. There is blood everywhere, both of them have blood on them. Tanner is yelling about his thumb, Alexis is yelling it was an accident. All I could see was his thumb and it did not look good. I'm a person that does not handle emergency situations to well. Thank the Lord that Tim was here and had not left yet to go fishing. He got Tanner into the bathroom and starting to work on his thumb. By then I'm crying right along with Tanner and Alexis is still saying it was an accident and that she had blood on her, but said it is not my blood, it is Tanner's. They were in the back yard and Alexis tried to chop something with the meshette and got Tanner's thumb instead. Tim worked on Tanner's thumb and got the bleeding stopped and bandaged it all up. He wasn't to sure how deep it was, but thank the Lord it was not as serious as it could have been.

Here he is lying on the coach with a bandaged up thumb. Tim put a couple of tongue depressors on it to keep Tanner from bending it.



Tanner has had a rough couple of days. Yesterday while Tanner and Alexis were playing (jumping) he got a black eye from hitting his head against her head. I did not know he had a black eye until he woke up this morning. He is actually proud of the black eye.

Please pray for Tanner for his thumb to heal. This is a big concern to me and I don't like for my children to be in pain as it pains me.

Help in the kitchen

Today I decided to make some cookies and Tanner and Alexis wanted to help. Sometimes I let the kids help and other times I don't. So today I let them help. I'm glad that I did because I got so many laughs from them. They wanted to taste everything. So I was in a mood to let them do it. The first thing was vanilla. This picture is actually a fake one. They had already tasted it and made awful faces and started spitting. so we reinacted it. They also tasted baking soda and did not like that either!

I enjoyed having the kids help me in the kitchen today. I had lots of laughs and fun. Thanks kids.

Double Digits

Ten years ago we were waiting (not to well either) for our long awaited birth of another son. He was two weeks over and I was not looking forward to being induced again. I prayed and prayed about this. The Lord worked things out while I was in the hospital to be induced. My water broke and about five hours later Trevor Allen was born. This was my easiest birth out of all my children. Trevor was such a good baby, a handful as a toddler and all boy as he gets older. He loves the outdoors, animals and fun. He hates to do school work, but loves to tear things apart. We pray that he will turn his life over to God and serve Him. Please pray for Trevor as he deals with peer pressure here.



I am not a cake baker. So he had to settle for a plain cake. We did put jell-o in it, which he wanted.

He picked out a car with a trailer and a helicopter. He loves it.




Just a picture of Trevor. I told him that it was time to take his birthday picture and he wanted to go across the street closer to the ocean. It was very windy outside and he was afraid that his hair would get messed up. Ha!! This coming from Trevor was comical because most of the time he doesn't care what he looks like, He could be covered in sand, mud or water and it wouldn't bother him a bit.
